Habitat
Low, shrubby woodland dominated by spontaneous woody species.

Description
Tree 2.5 m tall, 2 stems, ca 30 cm apart, 2.5 cm diam, lateral short shoots prominent; bark grey, smooth; leaves emerging with the flowers, bronze and green; calyx red; the petals dark pink in bud, pale pink when open. Spontaneous. This species is invasive nearly throughout Central Park, but especially in the northern sections. There are numerous individuals here along the transverse, at least 8 stems in 25 square meters. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
