    Terrestrial subshrub (rarely scandent). Bracts and calyx lobes wine-red. Corolla urceolate; yellow with bright red lobes. Fruit a fleshy bivalved capsule; valves dark purple contrasting with cluster of dark black seeds/fleshy funicula.
