LYTHRACEAE Didiplis diandra (Nutt.) Wood
Abundant tangled growth in a ca. 2 m. wide ring around
edge of small, shallow, muddy pond. Mostly under water
with long brownish or light green leaves, the tips of
some branches emerging and these leaves bright shiny
green and thicker; crowing in water 0-30 cm. deep or
soft mud, or some branded on damp mud among thin
stand of Sparganium eurycarpum, the other angiosperm
species extending farthest toward the pond.
Ungrazed marshy prairie in floodplain of Pine River.
WISCONSIN: Richland Co., 3 miles SE of Richland Center.
