Mostly under water with long brownish or light green leaves, the tips of some branches emerging and these leaves bright shiny green and thicker; crowing in water 0-30 cm. deep or soft mud, or some branded on damp mud among thin stand of Sparganium eurycarpum, the other angiosperm species extending farthest toward the pond.
