Ericaceae Province:Loja Road Yangana-Valladolid, km 20. 2700 m c.79° 10' W; 4° 2T S 17 September 1997 Vegetation: bosque humedo montano / bosque nublado, and secondary scrub. Shrub, 1 - 2 m; young flush foliage reddish purple, leaves thick- coriaceous, discolorous, dark green above, much paler below, secondary veins sunken on upper face; calyces green tinged red, corollas white tinged pale pink.
