Common Name Shepherds Needle, Shoepper Needle
Description Herb in flower and fruit. Ray flowers white and disk flowers
yellow. Fruits look like little pitch forks, hence the common name.
Location/Habitat Greenwood Development, found at Greenwood Beach Resort, in their
yard. Disturbed yard.

Uses/Comments Plant is boiled in water and taken for "heat in the blood," "prickly heat," to
relieve rashes, chicken pox and measels, sores and cuts. Decoction is
drunk and bathed in. Decoction also taken for "burning in water" and
high blood pressure.
