  Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the Tucuruí Dam along Rio Tocantins. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure approximately 5 km. (5.00016 km.) south (upriver) along Rio Tocantins. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the offset, along the adjacent western shore. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find the linear extent by measuring from the geographic center of the Tucuruí Dam (starting location) to the farthest extent of the Dam.
