Piedmont Swamp, two airmiles
southwest of Whitehall in the
Jefferson River valley, an area of
alkaline periglacial lake plain.
Elevation: 4350'. Few localized
clusters in alkaline upland near
abandoned railroad; associated with
sporobolus airoides, Distichilis
stricta, Haolopappus intecrrifolia.
Flower color is brick red; drying to
purple. T.1N R.4W Sec. 16 NW 1/4 of
NW 1/4.
