Guyana. Near Chodikar Landing, 10 ft from river, amongst Acaraí foothills.

Description
12" x 60' tree with variegated bark, covered with raised corky lenticels and a slight basal swelling. Crown dense, leaves held horizontally. Inflorescences terminal, consisting of a long reddish brown stem, to 10', contrasting with the greyish twigs, bearing at 6" intervals spirally arranged 1 1/2" slightly upturned shoots, each with a spiral of C 8 buds and 1 or 2 flowers, flowers 1" long, pedicel 1", reddish at base, green above, one large enfolding petal creamy or even greenish at base, rose pink at edge where exposed. Stamens protrude 1 1/2", rose pink, beige anthers. Leaves to 10" long, with 3 pairs (usu) of ovate sinuous edge long driptipped leaves on 1/4" cylindical petioles. Fruit pendant to 12" x 4", sickle shaped. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
