Chiricahua Mountains, Coronado National Forest; in Cave Creek
above the old das at Herb Martyr Caapground, at the start of
USFS Trails 247 and 42A, 2 ii HSW of the Southwestern Research
Station and 6 ai SN of Portal, AZ (NE 1/4 of T18S R30E);
not coaaon in area; growing about 2 ft above the streaaside on
a 30 degree bank; corolla 3-lipped, the upper 2 fused and
recurved against the sepals, green with a slight purple tint;
the other petals purple with an inverted curve (convex) at
anthesis; elevation 5900 ft.
Associated flora: Acer grandidentatua, Quercus eaoryi,
Sporobolus, side-oat graaa-grass, sedges
Distributed froa NHSU to: NHC, NY, RSA
