Very frequent. Epiphyte or rupiculous, cespitóse. Plant 1.4 m tall.
Leaves forming a semi-spreading tank rosette. Sheaths white to light
yellow on both surfaces. Blades strongly coriaceous to succulent, dark
green and covered with lepidote indûment, especially on the abaxlal
side. Inflorescence erect, turning pendulous when old. Scape 1.2 cm in
diameter, green with Irregular purple areas, with sparse floccose white
indûment. Scape bracts green to pale brown, covered with white
lepidote indûment. Inflorescence rachis and axes green with sparse
floccose indûment. Primary bracts similar to scape bracts. Floral bracts
bright yellow, the upper one with green margins and apices. Sepals
light green to yellow, strongly carinated. Corolla white, forming a tube
and slightly spreading towards the apex, exposed above the highly
imbricated floral bracts. Stigma white. Anthers white. Only one open
flower per spike at a time. Fhjits white, consumed by Jamaican
Orioles.
