Bare opening in sagebrush flat. Eriogonum and Astragalus. Thin layer of ash & cinder (ca. 1" deep) on volcanic bedrock.

Local, matted, stems prostrate, most past flowering, a few still with yellow flowers. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
