BAMBOOS OF COLOMBIA
Chusquea sp.
Antioquia: Mun. Santa Barbara, road La Pintada-Santa Barbara-
Medellin, 13.2 km before the turnoff to Caldas, just S of Alto de Minas,
2300 m. 5°58’N, 75°35'W.
In a quebrada with remnant cloud forest; bamboo all vegetative. Culms
scandent, erect at the base, then arching and hanging, to 3-4 m long.
Branching extravaginal. Culm leaves not reaching the next node.
Adventitious roots present at least at the lower nodes. Treated with 70%
EtOH.
