Chusquea aff. spadicea Pilger
Quindío: Mun. Salento, Reserva Natural del Alto Quindio, above the
Estación Biológica Estrella de Agua on the trail to Frontino, 3400 m.
4°37-40' N, 75°25-30' W.
Cloud forest, trees of medium size. This population of the bamboo all in
flower. Culms scandent, 0.5 cm in diameter, 4-5 m long. Culm leaves
not reaching the next node, blades very small, girdle present, pubescent,
a small corky ridge present at juncture of sheath and girdle. Branching
extravaginal. Inflorescence a narrow but not dense, paniculiform,
terminal to the subsidiary branches; spikelets slightly falcate and bending
away from the rachis, several at anthesis; glumes well developed,
apiculate, pubescent; anthers greenish-yellow; stigmas white. Treated
with 70% EtOH.
