Chusquea aff. maculata L. G. Clark
Antioquia: Mun. Amalfi, about 3 km S of Amalfi on the road to Vereda El
Guayabito, old road, 1760 m. 6°52' N, 75°05' W.
In a remnant cloud forest near a pasture, growing with Ficus, Tibouchina,
Clusia, Araceae, Magnoliaceae, and tree ferns. Whole population in
flower, just before or at anthesis, common in this area, all in bloom.
Culms erect then clambering and hanging, forming curtains, to 2 cm in
diameter, to at least 8 m tall. Internodes becoming dark purple to nearly
black where exposed to the sun, sulcate above the bud/branch
complement. Branching infravaginal; prophyll of central bud elongated.
Culm leaves maculate, surpassing the next node. Treated with 70%
EtOH.
