Heavily grazed grassland and oak savanna on steep slopes with
relatively heavy clay soil, scattered outcrops of sandstone.
Grassland with Bromus hordeaceus, Avena barbata, Erodium
cicutarium, Triteleia ixioides, Trifolium albopurpureum, and Lupinus
microcarpus, more mesic exposures with open stands of Quercus
douglasii.
Annual, flowers reddish violet and white. Common.
