Fabaceae Lupinus excubitus M.E .Jones var. hallii (Abrams) C.P.Smith BOUQUET CANYON: along Bouquet Canyon Road at its intersection with a US Forest Service road that winds up onto the ridge between Bouquet Canyon and Mystic Canyon. USGS 7.51 Green Valley Quadrangle; T5N R15W, SE/4 SE/4 SW/4 Section 10; elev. ca 1950-2000 feet. Canyon bottom with narrow stream and riparian woodland elements; adjacent slopes with chaparral and coastal sage scrub elements. Shrub to ca 18 dm; definitely woody with a twisted trunk ca 10 cm diameter at its base; on Bouquet schist colluvium of steep northwesterly slope. Leaves grayish green; inflorescence bracts ca 8 mm; corolla lavender to violet, ± 13-15 mm long; banner with yellow center patch and bluish lateral veins; patch aging deep violet; back of banner apparently glabrous; keel ciliate above, pale, with purple/violet apex. Locally uncommon; associated with Heteromeles arbutifolia. Salvia mellifera, Phacelia aff. imbricata, Quercus agrifolia, Toxicodendron diversilobwn, Artemisia californica. Timothy S.
