RANCHO SANTA ANA BOTANIC GARDEN Flora of Los Angeles County, California, U.S.A. Fabaceae . Lupinus excubitus M.E.Jones ssp. austromontanus (Heller) C.P. Smith SAN GABRIEL MTNS: Decomposed granite flats ca 300 m W of the summit of Condor Peak. Condor Peak 7.5' USGS quadrangle; near 34°19'28"N 118°13'22"W; elev. ca 5210 feet. Localized herbaceous perennial forming ± prostrate mats ca 8-12 dm across; leaves greenish to slightly silvery; flowers purplish-lavender, fading to buff-cream. Associated with Galium johnstonii, Eriogonum nudum, Solatium xanti, Chrysothamnus nauseosus, Haplopappus pinifolius, Ceanothus leucodermis, Muilla maritima, Elymus glaucus jepsonii, with Pinus coulteri and Quercus chrysolepis appearing on the N slope off the ridgetop.
