Floodplain of Pine River, just below the old railroad tracks
(now a hiking trail). On clayey soil, slightly above floods,
along railroad grade with trees and shrubs, Quercus
macrocarpa, Q. ellipsoidalis, Corylus americana.
Tree 13 m. tall, 16 cm. in diameter. Voucher for wood
specimen, MADw. Bark with alternate white and tan layers;
sapwood very pale; heartwood brown.
