02597407 BOTANICAL Spontaneous in narrow row of trees between farm fields, in former cattle lane, with large Robinia pseudoacacia (remants of planting in 1930s for efosion control), and a few spontaneous Quercus macrocarpa, Carya ovata, Juglans nigra, and ground cover of dense Ambrosia trifida. Bottom of small valley without permanent stream. Tree 18 m. tall, 43 cm. in diameter. Voucher for wood specimen, MADw. Inflorescences abundant throughout the canopy, on shoots with smaller and relatively wider leaves than the often navicular larger leaves on the distal vegetative part of the twigs; each raceme with many fewer fruits than there were flowers; fruit green, some reddish on insolated side, especially those high in the canopy.
