Woods of Populus tremuloides, Acer rubrum, Alnus incana
ssp. rugosa, Prunus serótina, P. virginiana, Corylus
americana, Cornus racemosa.
Shrub 2.8 m. tall, with several arching stems to 2.2 cm. in
diameter in a loose clump. Voucher for wood specimen,
MADw. Fruiting involucre green. Next year’s staminate
catkins greenish white, held below the leaves.
