NW-facing slope of small valley, between cultivated fields
below and young woods above, with Populus
grandidentata, P. tremuloides, Quercus rubra, Q.
ellipsoidalis, Q. alba, Acer rubrum, Ostrya virginiana,
Carya ovata.
Tree 23 m. tall, 28 cm. in diameter. Voucher for wood
specimen, MADw. Herbarium specimens from top of
canopy. Staminate; some flowers with old anthers, some
anthers red and just ready to open, and some filaments yet
to expand (compare with nearby tree, Nee 62079, which is
just past anthesis).
