Only three clumps of this species seen in ridgetop woods
over dolomite bedrock, with Juniperus virginiana, Tilia
americana, Quercus rubra. Shrub 1.5 m. tall, with many
stems in a clump, arching outwards, the largest stem 2 cm
in diameter. Inner bark yellow-orange, wood yellow.
