BAMBOOS OF COLOMBIA
Chusquea sp.
Cundinamarca: Mun. Fomeque, Vereda Olla Grande, 11.3 km ESE of
Fomeque on the road to Parque Nacional Chingaza, 2570 m. 4°27' N,
73°49' W.
In secondary vegetation along the road, on road bank. Culms erect at
the base, but quickly scandent, climbing, arching and hanging, to 1.5 cm
in diameter, to 6-8 m tall. Internodes 14-16 cm long, shallowly sulcate
above the bud/branch complement on larger culms, asperous/scabrous
below the nodal line. Branching extravaginal; central bud triangular,
often developing and rebranching. Culm leaves barely reaching the next
node; sheath scabrid toward base. This clump in flower.
