Cundinamarca: Mun. Guasca, road Guasca-Gacheta, 9.3 km E of
Guasca, 3150 m. 4°51' N, 73°48' W.
Subparamo. Common, forming large stands although plants are in
clumps. One clump in flower, the rest vegetative. Culms erect at the
base then arching over, to 2-3 cm in diameter, about 3 m tall. Branching
intravaginal at first, then some branches breaking through the sheath
base and other spreading and pushing the culm leaf away from the main
culm. Culm leaves not surpassing the next node, sheath fused at the
base for 2-3 cm, abaxially hispid; blades small, erect, persistent; internal
ligule fairly well developed. Treated with 70% EtOH.
