Cundinamarca: Mun. Guasca, road Guasca-Gachetá, 8.2 km E of
Guasca, Cuchilla Peñas Negras, 3100 m. 4°51' N, 73°49' W.
Subpáramo, common, in clumps on slopes, fairly scattered. Culms
arching but not really scandent, about 2.5 cm basal diameter, to 3-3.5 m
tall. Branching extravaginal; one triangular central bud subtended by
numerous subsidiary branches; sheaths of foliage leaves white farinose
when young. Culm leaves farinose when young, not reaching the next
node; blade erect, persistent, slightly cordate at the base, not rugose.
Internal, more shaded culms bearing fibrillar branchlets at their nodes.
Treated with 70% EtOH.
