Subpáramo. Plants in clumps, more or less common here, growing with
C. spencei and C. tessellata; also seen above in P. N. Chingaza growing
with just C. tessellata, but not as common there. Mostly vegetative, but
one clump in flower. Culms erect to sometimes leaning, to about 1.5 cm
in diameter, 2-2.5 m tall. Internodes becoming yellowish-orange with
age, glabrous. Branching intravaginal; central branch noticeably more
robust than the subsidiaries; subsidiary branches several on each side of
the central branch with a few subtending the central bud/branch,
rebranching; branches in general erect to somewhat ascending. Foliage
leaf blades more or less erect to curving outwards, some almost
horizontal. Treated with 70% EtOH.
