Growing on unstable scree. South-facing canyon slope. Pinyon-Juniper belt, with Cercocarpus, Holodiscus, Artemisia tridentata. Steep talus of disintegrated granite with outcroppings of massive granite.

Entire plant microscopically glandular. Sepals scarious-margined, acerose at tip, the midrib raised; petals white, 5-6, not widely spreading, obtuse to emarginate; stamens 10-11; styles 3. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
