Family Surianaceae Common Name Bay Cedar Description Shrub with pubescent fruits and yellow flowers. The vegetation is somewhat succulent and finely pubescent. Location/Habitat Greenwood Development, found behind Greenwood Resort's back rooms, in a sandy Whiteland, growing on Bursera simaruba. Latitude 24° 11 40 N Longitude 75° 18 84 W Uses/Comments Not previously listed as occurring on Cat Island (Correll & Correll, 1982). Not commonly mentioned, but some boiled root and swished the liquid in mouth for a toothache or drank for low blood or just for a tea. Collector(s) Laurel R.
