Growing along pond edge, with roots submerged. Blue/purple flowers with 5 petals. 5 stamens curl outward from base and rejoin at apex with 2 styles. Spongy orange roots submerged in pond water. Leaves with scalloped margins. Plants 1.5-3.5 feet tall. Abundant along pond edge. Lat. 30° 23.86' N, Long. 97° 14.12' W. 500 feet elev.
