ca. 1/2 mi E of and 800 ft above Hwy.
940; elev 8600 ft.
Alpine, above timberline or on rocky
talus, 40% S slope.
With dominants: Salix, Dryas octopet-
ala, Hedysarum sulphurescens; also with
Polygonum, Myosotis, Carex, Arabis drum-
mondii, Saussurea nuda, Arnica mollis,
Penstemon procerus, Astragalus bourgov-
ii, Poa alpina, P. epilis.
Especially common on slopes in upper
openings of spruce, fir, tamarix woods.
Corolla pale cream.
