EX HERB. HORT. BOT. REG. EDIN. FLORA OF COSTA RICA Dussia Puntarenas: Osa Peninsula. Canton de Osa. Cerro Chocuaco. 8°45’N, 83°35’W. 550 m alt. Mixed forest on steep slopes. Red clay soil. Tree 40 m x 90 cm above narrow buttresses to 4 m. Bark pale brown, with many lenticels, ca. 2 mm and pale brown in section; slash 1 cm thick, red-brown streaked with pale brown, with copious red exudate from the inner layer. Old flowers still fragrant (10 am), calyx brown, corolla brown-white. Photos R.T. Pennington, N. Zamora, R.
