Boyaca: Mun. Arcabuco, 4.1 km W of Arcabuco on the road to
Gachantiva and Villa de Leiva, 2580 m. 5°46' N, 73°29' W.
Secondary vegetation of dry montane forest, with oaks, orchids,
bromeliads, Ericaceae, and Gleichenium. Bamboo diffuse, scattered
among vegetation on roadbank and in forest, all vegetative. Culms
scandent and clambering, to a maximum of 0.5 cm in diameter, to 2-3 m
long. Branching extravaginal; central bud triangular, subtended by one
row of subsidiary branches. Internodes scabrous above the culm leaves.
Culm leaves not reaching the next node, retrorsely scabrous. Foliage
leaf sheaths lightly farinose when young; external ligule well developed.
Treated with 70% EtOH.
