Chusquea sect. Serpentes
Boyaca: Mun. Aquitania, road Sogoamoso-Pajarito-Yopal, Corr. Corinto,
15.7 km ESE of La Toquilla, 2300 m. 5°28' N, 72°43' W.
In secondary vegetation along roadbank, all vegetative. Culms
scandent, 1-1.3 cm in diameter, to 4-5 m long. Branching extravaginal;
central bud triangular, subtended by 11-16 subsidiary branches. Culm
leaves surpassing the next node by a little; sheaths retrorsely scabrous,
mottled when young, ring of cilia at the base; blades small, erect.
Internodes up to 37 cm long, retrorsely scabrous below the node at least
when young. Many branch complements with two of the subsidiary
branches (one on each side) curved back around the node. Treated with
70% EtOH.
