With young trees at edge (e.g. Gleditsia triacanthos) and
surrounding cultivated fields.
Small tree; trunk 30 cm. in diameter, it and the larger branches
with clusters of branched spines, these being continuously
renewed, with a few tender green spines among the old, rigid
brown ones.
