Almeda 1973 Guatemala: Dept, of Chimaltenango. Hwy. #CA 1 ca. 18.1 miles east of Dos Encuentros in the vicinity of Tecpan. Predominately pine woodlands with smaller hardwoods as an understory at an elev. of 7900 ft. Spreading to decumbent suffrutescent herbs or occasionally weak brittle stemmed shrubs with branches to 1.5 m. long. Corolla bright magenta. Style and filaments pale pink. Antepetalous anthers deep pink with yellow appendages. Antesepalous anthers yellow suffused with magenta at the point of appendage diversion.
