Rd. #9N ca. 17 miles south of Santa Eulalia * and 11 miles south of Soloma. Sierra de los Cuchumatanes. Dry partially shaded roadside banks at an elev. of 8200 ft. Petals brilliant magenta, obovate and some- what apiculate apically. All filaments pale pink. Antepetalous anthers deep pink- red with yellow clavate appendages. Ante- VUIVC UIN I V CKO I I I sepalous anther and appendages pale yellow. Capsules deep carmine red. Flowers being pollinated by Bombus sp. Frank Almeda, Jr. #1708 1 Jan. 1973 James L.
