Steep roadside banks and disturbed sites adjoined by virgin cloud forests. Elev. ca. 1500-1700 m. Common flimsy arching shrubs to 2 m. Flowers white, large anthers pinkish-red, small anthers and appendages yellow. Growing in close proximity bo M. cordatum, M. neglectum, and M. macrantherum. Locally common.
