Vertical, periodically graded banks along wet cloud forest at an elev. of 7250 ft. Low shrubs mostly less than 65 cm. tall. Corolla bright magenta. Antepetalous anthers deep pink with pale yellow appendages Antesepalous anthers and appendages pale yellow. Capsules carmine red. Sepals mostly spreading. Locally abundant.
