Andean forest.
Sprawling ground hugging shrub to 2 m long but also a shrub.
Flowers 4-merous. Petals magenta, spreading. Filaments pale pink.
Style darker pink. Anthers and all appendages yellow. Calyx
deciduous. Inflorescence rachis, hypanthia and abaxial surface of
many leaves red.
