Secondary subandean forest.
Tree to 5-7 m tall. Leaves glossy green. Flowers 5-merous. Petals
magenta, widely spreading. Filaments pink-white lying flat on the
petals like the anthers. Anthers pale pink. Anthers appendages pale
yellow. Common.
