miles south of Cartago on the Pan American
Highway at an elevation of 9500 ft.
Locally infrequent bushy shrub 2 m. tall.
Petals rose-purple. Anthers yellow; appen-
dages deep purple. Hypanthium and calyx-
lobes dark red.
