Almeda 1973 State of Oaxaca: Hwy. #175 ca. 28 mi. north of Ixtlan de Juarez at an elev. of 9200 ft. Exposed, disturbed rocky slopes descending to stream bed with Rubus, Gaultheria, and Fuchsia. Only locally common. Low, suffrutescent herb to 1.5 ft. tall. Stems strongly angled. Foliage deep green above and pale green below. Corolla bright ?Ï95I5 botanical gabdfn magenta and finely ciliate. Large anthers magenta with pale yellow appendages. Small anthers pale yellow but suffused with tinge of magenta. Small anthers appendages pale yellow also.
