Mixed mesophytic cove forest w/ Magnolia fraseri, Acer saccharum, Liriodendron tulipifera, Tsuga canadensis, & Tilia heterophylla among the canopy species; understory including Clethra acuminata, Robinia pseudo-acacia, Sorbus americana, & Rhododendron. Elev. 4400’. Aspect S. Substrate granite/metamorphic mix forming alfisol. Slope 10°. Plants uncommon. Med. trees 60 ft. tall. Flowers white. Carla A. Richardson 230 28 July 1995 02537905
