Acid peat and humus over basaltic bedrock. Montane forest with Rhododendron, Thuja, Tsuga, Alnus, Gaultheria shallon surrounding peat bog (meadow) with Sphagnum, Carex spp., Scheuchzeria, Sanguisorba, Hypericum anagalloides.
