Description
Palm 5-7m tall. 6-10 leaves per stem. Dead persistent sheaths forming a net like structure covering the stem. Petiole section triangular, petiole 40 cm long, rachis 90 cm long. 28-33 pinnae per side, regularly arranged in one plane. The basal one 1 m long and thin. Second basal pinnae 40 cm long; middle pinnae 50 cm long; apical pinnae 30 cm long. Inflorescence infrafoliar. Peduncular bract leathery brown. Peduncle 5 cm long, rusty brown indumentum all over, rachis 50 cm long. Rachillae numerous, up to 4 orders. 1st order 30 cm long: 2nd order 10-15 cm long; 3rd order 4-5 cm long; 4th order 1-2 cm. Fruits light green to wine red at maturity.
