    Flooded "igapo" forest along river.

  • Description

    Palm 2 m tall, 5 cm in diameter. Solitary. 6-7 leaves, leaf sheath open. Petiole section round. Petiole 80 cm long, rachis 1 m long covered with silvery indumentum. Pinnae 28-30 per side, arranged by groups of 2-4 in different planes towards the base, but in same plane and more regular towards apex. Basal pinnae: 30 cm long; middle pinnae: 20-25 cm long; apical pinnae 10-12 cm long. Inflorescence infrafoliar, peduncular bract woody, peduncle 10 cm long, rachis 8 cm long, 16-18 rachillae ca. 10 cm long. Fruits green when unripe.
