Low shrub, 1 dm. high; buds pink; petals
white, broadly elliptical, rounded; disk
prominent, depressed or suberect; anthers
red; leaves opposite; pedicels hairy,
style slender, twice as long as ovary.
Abundant on summit of Roan Mountain.
