an Harvard University, Gray Herbarium (GH) PLANTS OF MISSISSIPPI Gaylussacia mosieri Small ERICACEAE Shrubs to 2.5ft tall, common. Growing in the ecotone between a pine savanna & a narrow, shrubby gallery woodland along a vernal stream or wet swale, in sandy/organic soil (Saucier, Smithton, and Susquehanna soils, rolling; Saucier: fine-loamy, siliceous, subactive, thermic Plinthaquic Paleudults; Smithon: coarse-loamy, siliceous, semiactive, thermic Typic Paleaquults; Susquehanna: fine, smectitic, thermic Vertic Paleudalfs). Growing with Acer rubrum, Andropogon spp., Anthaenantia rufa, Aronia arbutifolia, Arundinaria gigantea, Aster adnatus, Bigelowia nudata, Carex turgescens, Centella asiatica, Dichanthelium clandestinum, D. ensifolium var. ensifolium, Elephantopus tomentosus (?), Eriocaulon compressum, Eryngium yuccifolium, Eupatorium mohrii, E. pilosum, Hypericum fasciculatum, Ilex coriacea, I. glabra, I. vomitoria, Liatris sp., Lycopodiella alopecuroides, Magnolia virginiana, Myrica carolinensis (= M. heterophylla), M. cerifera, Nyssa biflora, Pinus elliottii, P. palustris, Pityopsis graminifolia, Rhexia alifanus, R. mariana (?), Rubus argutus, Sarracenia alata, Smilax laurifolia, Solidago rugosa, Sphagnum affine, Symplocos tinctoria, Toxicodendron radicans, T. vernix, Viburnum nudum, Woodwardia areolata & Xyris fimbriata.
