Disturbed cloud forest dominated by Weinmannia and Polylepis.

Description
4-6 m tall cloud forest tree; young stems and veins on leaf underside with 1 mm long wooly, stellate light brown hairs; petioles 2-3 cm long, upper side distinctly grooved; leaves boot-shaped with margins bent downwards with 1 cm long, 4 mm wide tip; pedicels 25-30 cm long bright red with scattered fine brown hairs; floral bracts broad triangular bright red with spur-like midvein, sepals 2 broad ovate, green red, flowers 6-merous green turning red, anthers 12 in dense ring; seeds bright red 1 x 2 mm slightly triangular, sticky; flowers singular, pendulous. Bat pollinated?. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
