Habitat
Pinus edulis / Juniperus osteosperma woodland with Achnatherum hymenoides, Cercocarpus monosperma, Coryphantha vivipara, Ephedra viridis, Opuntia fragilis, O. polyacantha, Petradoria pumila, and Sclerocactus parviflorus. Frequent. Sandstone ridge with outcroppings, silt and fine sand.

Description
Cespitose, this individual nearly spineless (see Baker 17594); transplanted to outside garden, Chino Valley, Arizona; bud collected during late meiosis of microgametogenesis 17:00 hrs, 24 April 2013, n=11; flowers photographed and collected (2) 9 May 2013; weights: 5.4, 5.7 grams; two additional flowers collected 12 May 2013; stems collected and pressed 3 June 2013. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
